Winter in the UK

Our 24-hour Emergency Resolution Team are on hand to answer alarm calls any time of the day or night. If you are in distress, it is reassuring to know you can get help no matter what the emergency is.

During the winter storms of 2018, one of our customers raised the alarm after she thought someone was in her home.

The 93-year old woman was in distress and our Emergency Resolution team were quick to answer. Marilyn, one of our Emergency Resolution operators, answered the call and reassured the woman that she would call for help.

I spoke to a very frightened lady who was 93-years-old and living on her own. She pressed her panic alarm button because she thought there was an intruder in her house.

Marilyn said "We answered the alarm and spoke to the lady through the personal alarm unit speaker."

Because the alarm unit is loud, it frightened the intruder off. The police were called and they were able to catch the intruder because they followed his footprints in the snow.

Police were quickly on the scene and tracked the suspect down by following the footprints in the snow. The intruder was caught after he fell into a nearby pond.

The snow and cold weather meant many older customers felt more vulnerable and isolated. The Emergency Resolution Team were able to support customers by calling for paramedics and the emergency services where medical assistance was required.
