Key Safe FAQs

  • Do I need a key safe to use the personal alarm service?

    No, although we recommend you have either two keyholders or a key safe. A keyholder is someone who has keys to your home, lives within 30 minutes and can come to your assistance if needed. This means there is always a way to get help to you, whenever you need it. We can supply a key safe when you order your personal alarm.

  • How do I add a key safe to my personal alarm order?

    If you are ordering a personal alarm online then you can add a key safe to your package. If you are ordering by telephone then just let us know when you call 0800 085 7371.  We can even provide a key safe at a later date if you decide you want extra peace of mind.

  • Do I have to use a key safe provided by you?

    No. Many of our customers will already have a key safe and do not need to purchase one from us.

  • What should I do if I change my key safe code?

    If you change your key safe code then simply give us a call on 0800 085 7371 so we can update our records. We rely on this information being correct so we can arrange assistance for you if you need it.

  • Where should a key safe be fitted?

    We recommend you choose a position that is out of easy sight from passers-by. It can only be fitted to an external wall, not an internal one, and the wall must be made of brick or concrete.

  • How do I fit the key safe?

  • What do I need to fit the key safe?

    To fit the key safe yourself you will need: a power drill and 5mm drill bit suitable for masonry, T30 Torx screwdriver and a pencil to mark your holes for drilling.

  • Can the key safe be fitted to an internal wall?

    Sorry, a key safe can only be fitted to a brick built external wall, outhouse or garage. Our Telecare Consultants can install a key safe for you. However, we cannot fit the key safe to an internal wall.

  • Can you fit the key safe for me?

    Yes. We offer an installation service (called "We-Connect") when you order your personal alarm. One of our Telecare Consultants will bring your personal alarm and key safe with them and install your personal alarm at the time we've agreed. If you’ve ordered a key safe from us they’ll fit that at the same time. They will show you how to use personal alarm and key safe and ensure the personal alarm is fully registered with our central response team.

  • What size is the key safe?

    The approximate external measurements are:

    Height: 149.35mm (5 7/8"), width: 81.03mm (3 3/16"), depth: 63.5mm (2 1/2"). The key safe weighs 1,710g.

    • How secure is a key safe?

      We supply the Supra C500 KeySafe, the original Police accredited key safe that can boast the title 'As secure as your front door'.

    • I already have a personal alarm. Can I still buy a key safe from you?

      Yes. You can buy a key safe from us at any time, even if you do not have a personal alarm with us. Call 0800 085 7371 to order your key safe. If you have a PPP Taking Care personal alarm, then don’t forget to let us know your key safe details so we can get help to you quickly in an emergency. If you would like us to install the key safe for you then add our We-Connect service when ordering.

    • Who should I ask to be my keyholders?

      You should nominate friends, family or neighbours who live at a separate address, no more than a 30 minute drive from you. Ideally they should have a set of keys to your home, or failing that, the code to your key safe if you have one. We do ask that they have their own telephone so we can get hold of them whenever you need us to.

    • Who do I tell if anything changes?

      If you change your address, telephone number or there are changes to your medical conditions or keyholders contact information, it’s important to tell us straightaway.
