How do I setup my Taking Care Anywhere alarm?

What should I do if my Taking Care Anywhere alarm isn’t working?

If your alarm is not working, please refer to our common faults and solutions section in your user guide or Troubleshooting page on our website.

How do I cancel an alarm call?

To cancel an accidental call on the GO pendant, simply press and hold one button until you hear the GO announce “Cancelled”. If the alert has proceeded to the Emergency Resolution Team, speak to the operator to let them know you do not require assistance.

If there has been a false alarm from the backup Pearl pendant and you wish to cancel, press the Cancel button on your in home alarm unit.

How and when should I test my alarm?

We recommend testing your alarm once every quarter, making a note in a diary — we suggest using a birthday to help remember.

To test the GO pendant, press both buttons and wait to be connected to an operator. We recommend testing when you are out and about.

To test the backup Pearl pendant, sit close to the alarm unit and press the button on the Pearl once and speak to one of our team via the speaker on your alarm unit.

Is my GO pendant waterproof?

Yes. The GO pendant is water resistant up to 1 metre for 30 minutes (IP67 standard). We would encourage you to wear the GO pendant in the bathroom and shower where slips are most likely to occur.

The backup Pearl is water-resistant up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes (IP68 standard) and can be worn in the bathroom and shower.

How should I wear my GO pendant?

Your GO should be worn at home, in the garden and when you are out and about.

The GO should always be worn around the neck and outside of clothing so it is easy to access in an emergency. Wearing under clothing may prevent the fall alarm from detecting a fall.

Wearing your GO if you have a pacemaker -If you have a pacemaker, please do not wear your GO around your neck.

Instead, attach your GO to the supplied split ring and use a belt clip. Always keep your GO at least 15cm (6 inches) away from your pacemaker.

Fall detectionIf you have a pacemaker - or if you wear your GO on your belt - fall detection will need to be turned off.

When should I wear the backup Pearl pendant?

The Pearl is to be worn while the GO is charging. The Pearl can only be worn at home and in the garden.

The Pearl has a 5 year battery life with typical use. A low battery report will notify when the battery reaches 20% capacity and a replacement will automatically be sent.

How do I test the battery in my alarm?

Press the single button on either side of your GO pendant. A chime will play and your GO will show a white status light — this means the system check has started.

Your GO will announce the battery life level first. A fully charged GO will either announce “Excellent” or “Good”. The GO will warn you when the battery is getting low and will advise when it needs to be placed on the charger.

The battery will last one to two months with standard use.

The backup Pearl has a 5 year battery life with typical use. A low battery report will notify when the battery reaches 20% capacity and a replacement will automatically be sent.

How do I charge the GO pendant?

Place the GO on the charging system, with the running man symbol facing upwards. The GO will illuminate blue to show that it is charging and green when it is fully charged. Charging your GO from low battery takes approximately 2-3 hours. The charging system comes with a cable and mains plug.

What should I do in the event of a fall?

If you experience a significant hard fall, your GO will detect and call our Emergency Resolution Team for you. Even if you can't speak, help is on the way.

While every effort is made to detect a significant fall from standing, there are circumstances where the GO may not automatically activate. If you are able to press both buttons on your GO at the same time to activate a call for help to our Emergency Resolution team then do so.

Does the GO pendant track my location at all times?

No, the GO does not continuously track your location. Our Emergency Resolution Team will only be aware of your location after an alert has been sent and you have been connected to us.

What if the GO pendant can’t connect at home?

If your GO doesn't have a strong enough mobile signal to connect, it will divert to using the alarm unit to call our Emergency Resolution Team.
