What we are looking for

We are looking to recruit people to join us in our ambition for growth, and to help people live happy, independent lives with our life saving services. As part of the AXA Group, Taking Care provides around the clock support to over 70,000 customers.

The purpose of the role is to effectively process and convert incoming/outgoing warm sales leads through all channels and taking payments as required. No hard selling is involved; it is very much about matching the needs of the customer and identifying opportunities for other products and/or services.

The perfect candidate will have excellent communication and relationship building skills; who is motivated; is used to speaking on the telephone to customers in a call centre environment; and has a passion for great levels of customer service. In this role specifically this is by selling our products to vulnerable clients which are best suited for them and their personal needs. It would be desirable for the candidate to have experience of working with vulnerable customers and or experience of medical terms and conditions.

You will need the ability to show empathy and patience towards our customers with an open, friendly attitude. 

Having experience of a telephone/conversational selling style and having worked in a call centre environment are essential to this role.

What does a day in the life of our Sales Advisors look like?

No day is the same and we need someone to join us who can be flexible and adapt to changing situations with the ability to multi-task effectively. To give you an idea a typical day will include:

  • Pro active and efficient call handling in line with business need.
  • Achieve personal and performance targets.
  • Achieve ‘Excellent’ Call quality.
  • Processing of payments from customers.
  • Order collateral as required for prospective clients and follow up as per KPIs.
  • Complete all pre-agreed follow up calls.
  • Complete administrative tasks.
  • Carry out additional or follow up outbound calling as required.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of products and key benefits to ensure customer choice and needs are considered during sale.
  • Identifying and maximising opportunities.
  • Use emotional intelligence to address concerns by customers to keep them engaged in the sales process.
  • Maintaining and develop own competencies and skills by using our Learning Management System (LMS).

 Development and training our people is really important to us, however we will need you to have the following skills and experience to be able to perform the role



  • Telephone sales experience.
  • B2C and conversational selling experience.
  • Working in a call centre environment (1 year +).
  • Excellent sales/conversion rate.
  • Working as a team to achieve goals.
  • Targets/KPI’s.
  • Call quality assessments.
  • Addressing Concerns to drive sales.
  • Telephone/conversational selling.
  • Microsoft Office Packages.

The role will be subject to a standard DBS check.



Comprehensive training will be provided during the first three weeks.

Salary£22,000 p.a. with OTE additional £3,600 p.a. bonus plus further company performance bonus.

Hours: Staggered Rota Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and 9am – 5pm on Saturday (35 hours per week)

Location: Our modern offices in Aperture at Pynes Hill, Rydon Lane, Exeter EX2 5SP with free parking. All our offices are Covid 19 secure.

Interview Process: The interview process will be in two stages – the first will be a telephone/Microsoft Teams interview, followed by a face to face or Microsoft Teams interview.
